I’m currently sitting in the pedicure chair at my favorite salon, watching as my toenails change from a gorgeous (albeit chipped) shade of turquoise to a vibrant hue of coral pink. There’s just something so wonderful about summer nail polish – drawing attention to the extremities we hide all winter in gloves and boots, with the bright colors making me smile each time I look down.
I like having plans to look forward to each weekend, and even some weeknights. It definitely makes the workdays go by faster! But – I confess – I’m starting to grow weary of a full schedule. We had 5 birthdays in August and we’ll have 3 more in September, with different events for each. We have brunches, girls night, work happy hours, and trips planned for the next month or so, and while it’s wonderful to spend so much time with friends and family, I just don’t know when I’ll get done all that stuff I want to do. You know, adult stuff.
The obvious solution would be to get up earlier in the mornings, but – I confess – I have been snoozing 2-3 times almost every day since I started work back in May. You guys, my bed is SO comfortable.
When I do finally wake up and get going, my morning routine consists of breakfast, the Skimm, a shower & getting out the door – sometimes with the addition of makeup, most times without. But – I confess – that I’ve also added another step to that process: latte creation. Yup, I’m officially caffeine dependent. I feel like somewhat of a real adult! (I still can’t drink it black) If I don’t make my own via Keurig or Nespresso (#spoiled) I grab one at the Starbucks around the corner from work. Speaking of work: THIS IS THE FIRST TIME EVER that I have completely finished a notepad. Clearly this moment was worthy enough to be captured and documented.
I mentioned above that we have a girls night planned – and I’m SO excited! We don’t actually have solid plans yet – just a vague concept of dinner, drinks and a slumber party – but I like it that way. No pressure. Just me and my galpals. We recently had a ridiculously enjoyable wine & appetizers night at Cheri’s – check out this spread! I confess – I ate like 90% of that brie myself…
We also had an incredibly delicious dinner at Banana Leaf in Chinatown, where we celebrated our friend Cutter’s birthday and ended up having so much fun we got a hotel room at 1am : ) I confess, I slept in my dress and makeup without brushing my teeth! #adulting so hard, you guys.
A Union game, watching Tim hit golf balls in the front yard and some casual vodka tasting rounded out our past few weeks. So as much as I whined earlier about my busy life, I confess that I’ve (obviously) truly been enjoying my summer ; )
I’ll leave you with something I’ve been contemplating lately: What’s on your happy list?
