I’m feeling extra re-charged after a very low key weekend at home. We had no plans for either night, but ended up having a blast grabbing drinks and seeing live music in Trolley Square on Friday, and watching the NHL All-Stars Skills Competition with pals on Saturday. Did you catch any of the action, or is everyone too focused on the upcoming Super Bowl to care about hockey? If you have a spare moment today, check out the story of John Scott – an awesome player AND person, who truly persevered to make the best of a pretty crappy situation.
We also celebrated this little gal’s 6th birthday twice this weekend – once with her group of friends at a Star Wars themed party on Saturday and again with family on Sunday! She was one tired little nugget after all that celebrating. Side note: Shopkins were definitely created by Satan.
Flashing back a little bit to tell you about the amazing dinner we had last week with our parents in the city – we eat at Giorgio on Pine at least once a year for Friendsgiving and I honestly could not sing their praises loudly enough. Our meals were exceptional, as usual, and the service was exemplary. We even got to sit next to Giorgio’s extended family and helped celebrate Nonna’s 80th birthday! The #MondayFunday craft beer of the week comes to you via Tim – he’s been jonesing for Troegs Nugget Nectar for a few weeks now, so I surprised him with a 6-pack for dinner… Which we all ended up sharing because it’s SO damn good.
Speaking of eats, my coworkers and I had our second Philadelphia Restaurant Week lunch on Friday – 3 courses for $20 at Red Owl Tavern in Old City! I had the Crab & Corn Fritters with Chipotle Aioli, the Bucatini with Wild Boar and Beef Bolognese, and Homemade Apple Pie with Franklin Fountain Ice Cream for dessert. Total #foodcoma all afternoon – TOTALLY worth it ; )
After work I headed to meet my family and some family friends to celebrate a college graduation with beers at Brahaus Schmitz on South Street – We had a huuuuge table in the back for all 16 of us and it was so great to catch up with everyone!
I hope you enjoyed that ridiculously out of order recap as much as I enjoyed remembering all of the awesome things I’ve done lately : ) Now it’s time for a quick Resolution Review – and then the Monday Funday linkup, of course!
- Run 216 miles in 2016: I started off REALLY strong you guys. I averaged this out to be about 4 miles a week and I was all about it for the first two weeks of January. Then it got much colder, snowed a lot, and I got lazy. Hoping to pick this back up in February with a vengeance – I’m headed to the gym later today!
- Get Organized & Get Rid: I actually cleaned out my bathroom products and old makeup this past weekend, so that’s a start! My closet is coming next – and I may try out ThredUp to sell some clothing – Have you ever heard of it? I also started using my gorgeous new Sugar Paper planner and I feel like I’m way more on top of things than I ever have been – especially blog planning!
- SPEND LESS MONEY: Keeping this one in all caps because it was a fail for January. Started off strong, but coupon codes are my weakness! I purchased a new phone case (Thank you Taralynn! (check it out below.. it’s gorgeous!)) a few articles of clothing, and went out for lunch twice. BUT yesterday I created detailed budgets for February and March – it’s time to get back on track!
