Behold: One of the easiest Pinterest crafts I have ever completed. You honestly don’t even need the hot glue gun, guys – Elmer’s will do just fine. Grab that stack of tissue paper from your gift wrap station (or the unorganized box under your bed), a random piece of string from a desk drawer and your trusty crafting scissors. This easy and adorable DIY Tissue Paper Tassel Garland IS ABOUT TO GO DOWN.
Sorry. I got excited.
I didn’t take photos of the steps because they are that easy. But if I’m being unclear and annoying during any part of this process, feel free to comment and make me clarify.
Step 1: Take 1 sheet of tissue paper and fold it down lengthwise (hamburger style!)
Step 2: Fold the sheet again, this time widthwise, to the right (this one is hotdog), then once more
Step 3: Starting from the bottom, cut the paper in strips that end before the top, creating the tassels
Step 4: Unfold and cut down the middle, creating two equal parts
Step 5: Unfold again, cut each half in half again, ending up with four pieces of tissue paper with strips cut from the bottom towards the top.
Step 6: Open each section and roll down the middle, then twist a loop at the top and let the tassel sections hang down. Secure this loop with hot glue and set aside. Repeat!
I TOLD YOU it was easy. Once you finished creating your individual tassels, and allowed the hot glue to dry (maybe a minute total, hot glue is bomb) – thread each tassel onto your string and knot it into place. Or don’t, if that’s what you’re into – I just wanted mine evenly spaced.
Phase one of my event planning takeover of the world is complete. Now I just need a billion dollars and a lot of champagne and we can really get this party started ; ) I’ve got plenty more awesome decor crafts and awesome DIY’s to share so check back soon, and don’t forget to add this to your own Pinterest board for inspiration!
