In the year & change that I have been blogging consistently, I’ve definitely learned a LOT about this “hobby” and how to continuously improve myself and my page. In fact, the information available might be an overload at times – not really knowing exactly what my next step should be. But I figured I would break down a few of the top things that have helped me in the past and begin to share them with all of you! Starting a blog was ridiculously daunting for me (especially when I switched over to self-hosting) and I hope my tips and tricks might someday help even one new blogger : )
First up on our list of blogger necessities – Creative Market!
What is it? Creative Market is self-described as “a platform for handcrafted, mousemade design content from independent creatives around the world.” The first time I navigated through the site I was absolutely amazed at the sheer amount of materials available – at really affordable prices!
How can it help me? To answer this, I’ll share how I personally use the site. When I make designs for my blog or social media (or any other project/gift I’m working on) I typically use Photoshop to create these graphics. Having a limited amount of design talent myself, I find it extremely helpful to have elements on hand for these – like fonts, brushes, shapes and backgrounds. Creative Market is full of items just like this – simply search for what you have in mind, or browse the different collections for inspiration!
- Sign up for your free account – if you don’t want too many promo emails, adjust your notifications.
- Sign up for the “Happy Monday” email! This contains 6 FREE goodies to download and always has a great selection of fonts, blog themes, mockups and design elements. I take advantage of it every single week, even if I’m not sure how I’ll use the materials!
- Browse the “Community” and blog sections full of awesome articles & discussions from tons of inspiring creators.
- Do you design? Open up your own shop and start selling – then let me know so I can buy your gorgeous materials and give you some well-earned $!
I hope this post helps you on your blogging journey – don’t forget to Pin It for future reference! : )
