I don’t know about you guys (and to each his own) but I typically try to refrain from alcohol during the week. I love to eat healthy and workout 4/5 of the days, and alcohol tends to make me feel sluggish – as if I haven’t made any effort at all. RUDE. But when Friday rolls around? Hand me a Stella and find me an empty barstool. OR – take one of my current favorite beverages and make them just the slightest bit “better” for me so I feel less guilty on Saturday morning. My Friday Favorites this week: easy, delicious Skinny Cocktails!
First up, let’s make the Mule skinny. Ya’ll know my obsession with Moscow Mules, and it’s only intensified this summer. Those copper mugs really DO keep the drink colder, despite the iswearitsneverending heat wave we’re currently/always experiencing here in Philly.
“Healthy” How-To: Instead of ginger beer (calories aplenty) try making your own ginger syrup! Then your drink will only consist of vodka, syrup, freshly squeezed lime and little bit of seltzer water for bubbles. Genius, I say.
Sex in the City made the Cosmo famous – but this easy trick is going to make the “La Croix-smo” just as popular. Just made that name up. Definitely unsure of the popularity levels that will ensue. Making bold claims anyway.
“Healthy” How-To: Grab a Cran-Raspberry La Croix, add vodka and lime. Could that actually be easier?
And because I couldn’t possibly discuss alcoholic beverages without mentioning champagne, here’s an easy way to add some jazz to your flute. (SEE WHAT I DID THERE?!) – Champagne & Sorbet!
“Healthy” How-To: If you make your own 5 ingredient sorbet/froyo, you’re saving calories and sugar, AND making a fancy drink even fancier. Add a tiny scoop to your glass and pour your bubbly of choice on top – here’s my top 3 champs recommendations!
Happy weekend! We’re headed to Rock Hall – what do you have planned?
