Guys. You know how you have those 4-5 outfits in your closet that you reach for whenever you:
A. Woke up on the wrong side of the bed and have no desire to mentally prepare an outfit
B. Just want to wear something that you KNOW you’ll looks good in
C. Just want to wear something you’ll definitely be comfortable in, or
D. All of the above?
Yeah. We’ve all got those items – I call them my Closet All-Stars. My VIP’s. My Taylor Swift Outfit Squad. You get the point, I think ; ) Today I’m sharing the autumn edition of those top picks – the things I find myself reaching for again and again that I think you should be wearing too! *Quick edit here: Target is currently running a BOGO 50% off on all clothes, shoes and accessories sooooo you should probably get your credit card out.
First things first: You NEED a great pair of distressed denim. Don’t worry – a few years ago I asked myself if I could actually get away with such a trend without heading back to high school, and the answer is yes. Find a pair that has an amount of rips you’re comfortable with and you’re good to go. This exact pair is from a year ago at Old Navy but this pair is super similar and now I want to own them too.
Pair it with a plain v-neck in a gorgeous fall color ($4!!), a long comfy cardigan and your favorite pair of boots for an outfit straight out of your pumpkin-picking-cider-sipping dreams. Chilly? Add a neutral infinity scarf!
Can you tell that neutrals/browns are my love language…? My must have accessories and shoes for the season are a great pair of OTK boots (similar flat here, heeled here) these amazing TOMS wedge booties, aforementioned scarf, and my gorgeous new Daniel Wellington watch. I seriously can’t speak highly enough about the quality of this watch and how the brown leather and rose gold somehow seem to match everything I own. Or at least how I pretend they do ; )
Here’s a radical idea – some sundresses are simply not just meant for summer. WHAT!? Yes. Take that same comfy cardigan and throw it over your favorite casual LBD with a great pair of boots – this outfit is workplace appropriate for me and I can only hope it is for you too, but it’s also pretty perfect to wear out on a casual dinner date.
Speaking of dresses, do you own any of the sweater variety? No? Stop reading – start shopping. This particular one is last season from Banana Republic (all hail the Friends & Family discount) but here are a few way more affordable options to choose from: one, two
Last but not least – taking things up a notch with a slightly dressier outfit for “special occasions” (those times I can convince Tim that I will absolutely die right this minute if we do not go out for sushi and drinks)
Grab your favorite blouse – a cold shoulder boho top or this dressier style – and add those ripped jeans and wedge booties. Did I mention how they magically elongate your legs and make you look like Carrie Underwood except probably less musically talented? No? My bad.
And there you have it friends. Mixing and matching outfits and looking damn good while you do it.
- What are your fall must haves?
- Have you gone pumpkin patching yet?
- PSL – yes or no?
