Well, it might not be the happiest of Tuesday over here as we come down from the inevitable wedding weekend high we’ve been riding since last Thursday – but happy nonetheless : ) If you followed along on Snapchat I’m sure you saw all of our beautiful pictures AND ridiculous antics! And did you check out that awesome custom filter on so many of our snaps?! Yup, we made that. And I can’t WAIT to tell you how easy it was!
- First, head over to the Snapchat On-Demand Geofilters page to log in to your account and begin creating your filter. You’ll also need a program like Photoshop, Illustrator or PicMonkey open as well, or you can use the online design tool provided by Snapchat themselves.
- Either begin creating your design online or use the template to make one on your own. Your submission should be 1080px wide by 1920px high, and saved as a PNG so your background is transparent. I recommend keeping your text white or light colored so it can be viewed on any photo! Ps. Unfortunately, you’re not allowed to use a hashtag in your design. Full Submission Guidelines can be found here.
- Choose your dates, start and end times based on your event, then draw a geo-fence around the area where you want the filter to be available. Keep in mind you can only have an area between 20 thousand and 5 million square feet, so be precise with your choice!
Enter your payment info, click submit, and wait patiently for Snapchat to review and accept your design! This can take up to 1 business day but I’ve had mine returned within minutes as well. We had SO much fun at Bradley’s wedding and I hardly took out my phone during the reception, but luckily Kelly managed to grab a few pics and I screenshotted this cute one of her & Meg so you could see my design : )
What do you think, will you try it out? The pricing is pretty fair and obviously ranges as you have a longer run time or a bigger area to cover, but we thought it was absolutely worth it as an added special touch to the day! What event would you create a filter for?
