Hi there! I’m taking a quick break from blogging while I laptop shop this weekend but my best friend Kelly was nice enough to step in with a quick Friday Favorites guest post! Show her some love in the comments or she’ll never come back ; )
Happy Friday! Jacqui’s best friend Kelly here — I’m taking over for Jac today, and am honored she asked me to contribute a guest post to my favorite blog! #notbiased Wedding season 2017 officially kicks off this weekend for me, as my boyfriend and I are headed to the wedding of one of his closest friends tomorrow. My cute date just also happens to be the best man, and it’s the first of four weddings we have on the calendar for this year. Whether you’re getting all dressed up or staying in snuggled up with Netflix this weekend to escape the cold weather, I hope you enjoy your well deserved break from the work week!
For today’s post, I’m stealing one of Jacqui’s favorite post formats: Song Book Quote Look!
- Song: Ed Sheeran released two new songs in January, announced a new album coming out in March and a tour. I can’t stop listening to either song – Shape of You and Castle on The Hill – and I’m not even remotely sorry about it. Two completely different styles, both equally catchy. You’ll have them on repeat. You’re welcome in advance!
- Book: Since Jacqui already encouraged you to read The Nightingale last year (I second her recommendation!), I’ll focus on my other favorite read of 2016: Small Great Things by Jodi Picoult. Please, please take the time to read this book. Set in Connecticut, an experienced labor and delivery nurse named Ruth (who is African American) is ordered not to interact with a baby on her floor whose parents are white supremacists. When something goes awry and Ruth is the only available nurse to tend to the child, the parents take her to court. It is a profound, eye-opening read that gracefully tackles race relations in the present day. Pro tip: read the book before the movie starring Viola Davis and Julia Roberts (just announced last week!) hits theaters and spoils it for you. What are you waiting for
- Quote: That boyfriend I mentioned? He currently lives 330 miles away in Boston. He’s making the trip back to PA this weekend for the wedding, and it comes almost three full weeks after our last visit with each other. Shout out to anyone else in a long distance relationship! You’re doing better than you think.
- Look: Looking forward to the warmer weather so I can begin incorporating my newest purchase, the Adidas Superstar sneaks, into casual outfits while exploring Boston and other cities. They’ll give my feet a break from boots or flats that tend to hurt as you’re on your umpteeth mile of city walking. I’m all for mixing comfy with casual!
That’s a wrap! I promise next week Jacqui will be back, but I hope you enjoyed some of my current favorites!
