OK SO. I’ve had a random assortment of things running through my mind this week so I figured I’d throw it all together into a hodgepodge post, drink some coffee and call it a “conversation” of sorts – Sound okay? Great – let’s dive in!
Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about comparison. The “thief of joy,” if you will. It’s really hard to not get swept up in the comparing game, especially when everyone only documents the good stuff on social media. It’s really hard not to feel ALL the feelings when someone has their dream job, someone is planning a wedding, someone else is on an exotic vacation and 4 different people just announced their pregnancies. Are you on the right track? Are you “far enough along” in life? I’ve thought about taking a break from social media but there’s so much that I love about being connected with so many different people, that I think a mindset change is a better solution. Being grateful for where I am and where I’m going instead of thinking about what someone else has or does. It won’t be easy, but it’s worth it.
On a lighter note, I’m excited to be planning ahead for our annual Friendsgiving dinner! We always go into the city and eat at Giorgio on Pine – a tiny BYO that manages to not only accommodate our 20+ crowd, but somehow the service seems to top itself each time as well. Not to mention… the pasta. Ohhh, the pasta. What better way to celebrate friendship than with wine and ravioli?!
Will this winter really be as bad as they’re saying? I like snow… to ski in. And truly, that’s about it. I don’t love being cold, I don’t love dangerous/icy driving conditions (someone bought a Jeep without 4WD…) and I don’t like when it melts and gets dirty on the side of the road. Perhaps Pennsylvania is NOT the best state for me to reside in ; )
But I’m definitely all stocked up on cozy clothing if it DOES get really cold! Between a few Old Navy SuperCash purchases (praise hands), the SNUGGLIEST cardigan from you’llneverguesswhere and this new knot front top from Pink Blush (shown in photos!) – I’m set. Bring on the slippers and scarves cause I’m about to cuddle the heck out of the next few months.
Can you guys help a gal out? I’m curating the perfect fall/winter playlist and I need suggestions! Going for a relaxing but upbeat vibe, if that makes ANY sense at all. As in, nothing that will put me to sleep but also nothing that I’d hear at a club on Saturday night. I love classic rock – The Rolling Stones, The Eagles, Steve Miller Band, CCR – but I also want to mix in some newer stuff like Mumford and Sons, John Mayer, ZBB and Alabama Shakes. Leave me a comment if you’ve got a great song/band to share! : )
Two words: Winter Decadence. We make this coffee drink up the mountains all season long and it is the perfect way to end a day on the slopes. Or start one ; ) Brew a cup of medium or dark roast coffee and add 1 shot each of Godiva Chocolate Liquor, Chambord and Bailey’s. Stir and top with whipped cream – preferably homemade!
Hope you’re all having a great week so far! : )
