I’m so behind on blogging – BUT! I’m not super behind on life, which is what really matters, right? ; ) However, I do like to use this little corner of the internet as a digital scrapbook, so we’re heading back into November to recap a weekend spent in Arlington, VA.
We headed out Friday after work and made pretty great time down to Virginia, with only one stop for essential Chick-Fil-A. We arrived at Nicole’s adorable apartment, changed/snacked/sipped and headed right back out for a few drinks. The bar was filled with college aged kids (or recent grads maybe) and I immediately felt old – but loved every minute. Brunch the next morning was at Tupelo Honey – which I’ve been DYING to try – and it more than met the hype. All praise Eggs Benny.
To burn off all that breakfast food, we headed out to hike Great Falls. And by hike I mean we weren’t really wearing appropriate clothing/footwear and we still scrambled up and down rocks and fallen trees because we’re children.
The next morning we met Tim & Ryan’s parents and siblings at church and then headed into Georgetown to see where Nicole went to high school and have more brunch. You can never have enough brunch, which was evidenced when 10 of us unknowingly sat down and began ordering drinks at a prix fix buffet 😛 We absolutely ate every pennies worth – omelet and benedict stations, crab cakes, sushi, chocolate fountains and more!
Our final stop of the weekend was a quick visit to Arlington Cemetery to hopefully search for Tim’s great-Uncle’s grave. We probably should have gotten better directions because we never found it, but we were able to witness the changing of the guard which was pretty incredible to watch and learn about.
A wonderful weekend with wonderful people! And only a month late for the recap ; ) Happy Wednesday!
