In our office, we spend the majority of our time staring at computer screens – you know, like almost every other 9-5 job that exists. That being the case, we almost always take morning and afternoon breaks to walk outside and wander around in Old City for coffee, lunch, an ATM, or simply for some fresh air.
I’m pretty well conditioned, in that whenever I leave a building during the daytime, I know there’s one thing I absolutely cannot forget to grab: sunglasses. Crazy sensitive eyes do not mix well with bright sunshine, or overcast glare. Therefore, it’s not surprising that I own a dozen or so different sunglasses – I like to know I’ll have one with me no matter where I might be! Here are my 4 favorites – and an awesome pair of Tim’s thrown in too in case the man in your life has been squinting in your direction lately.
Everyday essentials. These Banana Republic beauties were well worth the $98 price tag – especially because I had a 50% off Friends and Family discount ; ) But seriously – I have a ridiculously small face and these awesome aviators fit me damn near perfectly. My only issue is the lightness of the lenses – in super bright sun, I’m sometimes still squinting.
Spare pair. I’m fairly certain I bought these for $10 at a boutique down the shore 7 or 8 years ago, but I honestly can’t remember. This is the pair that I don’t feel anxious about losing or breaking, try to always keep in my car or purse, and reach for if my everyday pair isn’t battling the sun well enough. Love the faux Ray Ban style!
Mirrored blues. A recent American Eagle purchase – I originally wasn’t sure if I could pull these off. You usually see mirrored sunglasses on frat boys or people at music festivals (or at least that’s my impression) but it turns out, I can rock them too! If you’re looking for a mirrored pair, these were fairly inexpensive.
USA, USA! I honestly love any and everything that is red, white & blue. I’m a sucker for holiday apparel in general (you should see me at Saint Patrick’s) but 4th of July holds a special place in my heart / closet, so when I spotted these at Target the other day, they had to be mine.
Last but not least, Tim’s H&M designer knockoffs! I found these around his birthday in April and he gets just as many compliments on this $5 pair as he does his actual, EXPENSIVE Ray Bans. Soooooo… I win.
It’s only Tuesday… but we’ll head to the shore Thursday night and I couldn’t be more excited to spend some time relaxing on the beach! What are your plans for the holiday weekend?
