It’s no secret that I love my city – see my top 10 reasons here! – but I don’t feel as though I take advantage of all that it has to offer sometimes. Sometimes we stick around home in our tried & true spots, sometimes we hang with friends at our houses, and sometimes we just don’t feel like spending money on an event.
But lately I’ve been hearing so much about everything that’s coming up this summer and I’m starting to get really excited for all of the opportunities to have adventures right here in Philly! We kicked off the season with a trip to the 18th annual Manayunk Brewery Bourbon BBQ & Blues Craft Beer Festival (try saying that 3 times fast) and it was absolutely awesome.
The weather that morning was questionable at best, but we braved it out and arrived to sunny skies – though it was a bit chilly for what I thought would be a mostly outdoor event. Holy cow you guys – It’s been since college, so I forgot how GIGANTIC this venue is!
This doesn’t even show all of the outdoor space, much less the multiple levels of indoor bars and dining areas. We had a blast wandering around and up and down the brewery finding new tables of beers and bourbons to try. And by we I mean I partook in some beer but let Tim polish off the bourbon samples as I was driving (and I don’t particularly care for it ; )
Our favorite beer of the day: Sterling Pig Snuffler IPA (definitely heading to Media to the tasting room soon!)
Our VIP tickets also included lunch, t-shirts and a souvenir glass – I’m so thankful to the head brewer Evan for the opportunity to attend this awesome event and taste test some delicious food and brews! We’ll definitely be back to Manayunk Brewery soon – I’m eyeing up their weekly Jazz Jam sessions for some live music to enjoy!
More Drink the City posts coming soon I’m sure – Summer is just around the corner! : )
