As I was making my 2017 resolutions, photography popped up on my list of goals. I’ve been taking photos since I was about 10 years old and I’ve owned a part-time portrait business since 2012, but there’s always room for improvement and increased creativity when it comes to photography.
I don’t own a studio (I don’t even do any marketing, it’s all word of mouth!) so most of my business takes place in the fall months leading up to the holiday season – everybody wants a great photo for their cards! Here are a few of my favorite images from some of the family sessions I did in 2016 : )
I primarily take photos outside in beautiful, natural light – I reaaaaally don’t like using flash. Families will often meet me at local parks or playgrounds for sessions, and we even had a few lifestyle shoots in their own backyards this year! Beyond the typical posed family photo, my style generally leans towards candid interactions – Kids typically smile the brightest when they’re having fun : )
