You know those insanely organized, always on time, put together & well dressed sort of people you see on Pinterest and in movies? Do they actually exist in real life? Sometimes I think I have the potential deep down inside of me to be a more punctual and responsible human being, and then I remember how much I love sleeping and how my memory gets worse every single year.
One thing I do have going for me – my obsession with seasonal organizing. I’m fairly certain I inherited this in the womb from my mother, as I don’t know anyone else who cleans out their closet roughly every 3 months, rotates their t-shirt drawer, or arranges their clothing by color AND style. Thanks mom! …I think?
Enter ThredUp. I first found out about this online consignment store via Maegen, when I used her $20 off code to score some new items (that I didn’t really need.) The concept is simple, as most resell outlets tend to be: You sign up for a bag, which ThredUp promptly sends you – then you fill it with your gently used, on-trend clothing to sell back on the site. You can get your money via PayPal, donate your earnings to a good cause, or use it as credit to buy items for sale right on ThredUp! Easy peasy-shipping paid for-no-guilt organizing, purging and shopping.
But here’s the thing… ThredUp also added a resell bag to my order, which promptly induced some major “I own entirely too much clothing” guilt, and lit a fire under my butt to clean out my closet – anyone else singing Eminem?
I devoted an entire Saturday afternoon to the cause, and ended up with so many purged items that I had to order a second ThredUp bag, AND I donated a pile of particularly old/worn items to Goodwill! It felt SO good to get organized before Spring starts, and to implement a few new systems in my closet to ensure I won’t be wearing the same old outfit every single week. Stay tuned for more on that note – I’m starting a Weekly Outfit Challenge in March and I’ll definitely be sharing details!
If your closet is more stuffed than Dominos Pizza crust or a turkey at Thanksgiving (why could I only think of food related metaphors…?) than it’s time to give ThredUp a try. I’m not as awesome as Maegen, so I can only offer you a $10 shopping credit, but even if you don’t use it, go sign up for a resell bag! They’re free, and so is return shipping – so it’s a no brainer if you’re ready to say “out with the lion and in with the lamb” to your wardrobe! #notarealsaying #idontcare
Happy Hump Day – only 3 and a half weeks ’til Spring!
