I have a lot of jewelry. I mean, I have TONS OF JEWELRY. If you read the post right before this one [Holiday Weekending & Beer] and scroll down to my PJ pants picture, you can see that my door mirror is actually a cabinet…. for jewelry.
That being said, I literally wear my pearl earrings, Michael Kors watch and/or FitBit Flex – every single day. Of course I mix it up when I’m going out on weekends, or for a special occasion. But most mornings I’m too tired to think straight, much less put together an entire ensemble that includes different pieces of jewelry.
SO, when I heard about Rocksbox way back when, I didn’t immediately jump at the chance. The designer jewels sent straight to my house sounded appealing, of course, but I wasn’t sure I’d get much use out of them. Plus, monies. So along comes December and I see a code for a free month over at Miss in the Midwest – and I’m thinking about all the holiday events I have coming up – so I decided to give it a try!
First, and most importantly, when you sign up you create a wishlist from the entire collection. You also tell your stylist if you prefer gold or silver, what your ring size is, and whether you like statement necklaces or dainty ones – those sort of preferences. After that, your box is curated to your taste and shipped to your door!
My stylist took one piece I had favorited – a Kendra Scott necklace – and paired it with gold leaf earrings and a gold and diamond crisscross ring. I loved everything in my box!
They didn’t have half sizes for rings so I picked 6, which I ended up regretting. All of my fingers are different sizes (weird) and when my hands had been typing all day at work, the 6 felt a littleee too tight. Oh well, lesson learned.
The necklace was my favorite piece – I actually almost used my allotted $10 “Shine Spend” to keep it – but in the end I sent the whole box back. It was so fun to have a few pieces of new jewelry for the holiday season, when I had parties and events to attend so often! I don’t think I’ll keep renewing every month, but if I ever decide I’ve got a lot of reasons to wear new jewelry in an upcoming 30 day period, I’ll get another box!
What do you think of Rocksbox – are you a subscriber? Would you use the service in the future? What’s your favorite type of jewelry?
Ps. If you’re wondering why I promised this post last week and it’s just showing up now, it’s because I left my camera (and memory card) at Tim’s for more than a few days. #bloggerfail
