I’ve been staring at this blank page for a few days now, because I legitimately don’t know where to start when it comes to recapping Camp Krista. When Kris first asked us to be in her bridal party last summer, she mentioned to me that she’d love to do a weekend up the mountains for her bachelorette, and eventually we planned ahead for a trip in July. As the details began to come together with a loosely based “camping” theme, we got more and more excited to spend a few days relaxing in the beautiful weather. I know that not every wedding party gets along so well, and not every bachelorette trip goes so smoothly, but I can honestly say it was more like a vacation with 8 of my best friends than a “mandatory wedding event.“ SO thankful for the opportunity (love you Mom & Dad) and grateful for girlfriends like these. #BigBassBach
After my aforementioned Thursday night fender bender, I was up bright and early on Friday to get in a quick workout with my mama, grab a few necessary items from my car at the shop (like the garage door opener) and head up 476 in my rental Renegade. I don’t particularly love the body style, but it was a nice change of pace from my Patriot and I got up to the house just in time to start a half day of work from the kitchen island. The afternoon was a blur of decorating, goody bag prep and grocery shopping – I was still in my workout gear enjoying a deck beer when Lindsay arrived around 4:30!
The rest of the crew trickled in over the next few hours and we got ready, took “classy” pink lemonade jello shots ; ) and headed out to dinner at a nearby restaurant. It was our second choice after our first was mysteriously not open, despite a phone call I placed earlier in the week… I digress. Our waitress was hilarious, our food was delicious and we were back at the house by 11pm for girl talk and drinks before calling it a night.
Despite trying to convince my body that it could sleep in a little longer, I was up before 8 and heating the oven for quiche / pouring my first mimosa. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast and relaxed a little before a boot camp style workout on the deck. I used my new favorite music app (check back on Monday to read all about it!) and we did a 30 minute Tabata routine in the sunshine – it was the perfect way to start our day. After quick showers we packed up and headed down to the beach at Big Bass Lake to sit in the sun. Despite the wind coming off the water (and a quick trip back for sleeves and pants) we had a lovely afternoon chatting over a picnic lunch and headstanding on a floating dock. Wait… that was just me. #wildchild
After showering and dressing in our DIY camp tank tops we reconvened for happy hour wine tasting! Kat complimented our beverages with a delicious spread of meats and cheeses and we were pretty content to sit and guess which wines we were sipping for a few hours. The selfie stick I bought for last summer’s bachelorette event got even more use this time around ; )
We had a quick photoshoot and relaxed for a little before enjoying a big dinner – had to get our stomachs ready for the night ahead! Rapping, sing-alongs, dance parties and ridiculous games. We never left the house and we had an amazing time being crazy in our own kitchen.
Sunday Funday started off quietly with breakfast and sitting outside enjoying the breeze. We never come up during the summer (renter season) so I really haven’t been able to experience the “warmer” mountains weather. I texted Tim that I wasn’t leaving and to please drive up to stay forever, buuuuut somehow that didn’t work…! We packed up the cars and cleaned up the house before heading to our final activity of the weekend – hiking Boulder Field in Hickory Run State Park. I use the term hiking loosely – more like scrambling over a huge field of rocks of all shapes and sizes! And tree climbing, of course.
We had such an absolutely incredible weekend enjoying each other’s company and the fresh mountain air that we declared Krista would have to honor her bachelorette-iversary next summer so we could do it all again. And now… only ONE MORE WEEK until wedding day! Love you Kris, can’t wait to celebrate! : )
