Ahhh fall. For those of us with actual seasons, it’s the mooost wonderful timeeee for style (admit it, you sang that.) Cozy sweaters, gorgeous boots, rich colors and ALL the plaid. Changing my closet over from summer is no easy feat, but I do love daydreaming about all the possibilities. And then.. inevitably, I get stuck in a rut. I wear the same things over and over again because I know they look good. “NOT THIS YEAR” she boldly proclaimed! This year I’ve got 5 easy fall outfit ideas ready and waiting for those days when I feel like I’ve got nothing to wear – and you can recreate them with items from your own closet too!
Okay – in true Type A fashion (pun intended) – I’ve decided to label each outfit with a specific activity or destination, because I am organizationally insane. #dealwithit ; )
First up we’ve got our “Casual Saturday Tailgate” style. I found this incredible varsity dress at Charming Charlie of all places – their frequent coupon promotions are tooooo enticing! – and it’s perfect for this in-between weather. Cool enough that you won’t sweat to death, but seasonally appropriate because, olive green. Pair it with your favorite baseball cap and slip on sneaks for the tailgate and pretend like you’re still able to play flip cup with zero repercussions!
This green utility vest is definitely one of my favorite purchases of the year – mostly because I almost bought the A New Day version and found the Merona on clearance 4 minutes later ; ) Pair it with the BEST EVER black leggings and a striped sweater for the perfect “Apple Picking Outfit!” Plus, you can stash snacks in your vest pockets if everyone is taking too long fighting over who gets to pull the wagon. #winwin
Next up; the ever in-demand “Easy & Appropriate Church Dress!” This little number from Old Navy is the perfect length to wear with your favorite heeled boots and dangle earrings – plus a 3/4 sleeve to keep you warm if your church is predictably over air-conditioned during this time of year.
Okay, here’s an important option – the “Friday Dress Down” work outfit. Unless of course, you work for an advertising agency like me, and are able to wear workout clothes on any given day… This Pink Blush blouse transitioned perfectly from summer to fall with my green jeans and sweater vest, and you could easily switch the heeled booties to flats if you’re on your feet all day.
Last but not least, the perfect casual “Movie Date Night” outfit. Layers are important for chilly theaters but I also want to be comfy soooo this super soft henley fits the bill. Throw on wedge booties if you want to dress it up a bit or sneakers if you don’t. #youdoyou
Now I can officially never complain about having nothing to wear ever again! Jk I’ll probably tear my room apart this weekend as always – but at least I’ve got some great outfit ideas on the backburner for the future. What are you guys excited to wear this season??
