Okay, real talk. Leggings are pants and that is simply that. HOWEVER, I firmly believe that for leggings to be public-appropriate pants, you need to be wearing a long enough shirt to cover your … hold up; what’s a term I can use on the internet that won’t totally offend people? Is there cute slang for….? Whatever. You know what I mean. LONG SHIRT + leggings = acceptable.
Something I’ve written about at least 3,342 times: How cold my offices are. It doesn’t really matter that it’s still warm enough out for capris and dresses – when I’m at work (so, all day everyday) I’m cold enough for pants. The GREAT NEWS is that our office is also casual enough that I can rock this adorable leggings/sweater/sneakers ensemble and probably still be more “dressed up” than a handful of my coworkers on any given day. #winning
*Edit: I had the cutest text ever from an adorable friend praising this post minus the missing outfit details and I super suck for leaving them out to begin with (although most of this is old..) – Sweater: Banana Republic, Leggings: Target, Long Tanks: Target Maternity (not pregnant, just a fan of the length!), Sneakers: Old Navy, and Necklace: Target!
The EVEN GREATER NEWS (!!) is that in a week or two I can swap out the sneaks for boots, add an infinity scarf and have an entirely different outfit! Who am I kidding, the boots will be making an appearance ASAP. Fall starts tomorrow and you can’t stop meeeeee!
I’m thinking about printed leggings this year. Am I too old? Am I too uncool? Don’t actually answer those questions, please. But if I do find the courage to rock a printed pair, I think I’ll gravitate towards neutral colors and a nice tame pattern. Start small, right? If you find any that match that description, send ’em my way! : )
Happy Tuesday, and thanks in advance for ignoring the fact that I desperately need highlights! ; )
